A Zine (an abbreviation of fanzine, or magazine) is most commonly a small circulation publication of original or appropriated texts and images. More broadly, the term encompasses any self-published work of minority interest
usually reproduced via photocopier.
- Your Zine will have eight pages.
Use the rulers to create eight even spaces in your new file.Place vertical ruler lines every 2 3/4 inches across the length of your page. These lines should be at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, and 8 1/4. Place one horizontal ruler line right in the middle of your page at 4 1/4 inches.
Four of your pages need to be upside down when on top of the other pages, as shown below. This will allow us to correctly fold our zines after printing.
- Your Zine needs a cover and a back page.
Your cover page needs to include an image and a title.
Your back page needs to include a logo of some kind and your name (the back page counts as one of your text pages)
- Four of your pages need to be photos.
Using the Selection Tools in Photoshop you need to cut out at least two images from their backgrounds. These images should be put on two of your image pages.
- Four of your pages need to be text.
I suggest one of the two pages in each set be an image and the other be text that relates to that image.
One way to create a better link between photos and text is color. Try using a color in your photo for the text on the page next to it.
